Who We Are

We are a family comprised of three generations who have enjoyed many different types of fisheries. The family started to fish on a (enter feet) salmon seiner in Kodiak, Alaska. Now we fish on a 58-foot limit seiner and have the family fishing every summer. We fish for halibut, salmon of all species, and tanner crab.

Mythos refers to a body of stories that arise out of the adventures we’ve had fishing and exploring the North Gulf Coast of Kodiak Island over the past fifty years as a fishing family.  These adventures shape who we are.  They take on a mythological character as the stories are repeatedly told.  Through our participation in fishing, we become characters in a mythology.

Elise Petrie: Elise is a third generation fisherwoman. She participates in Salmon Seining, Halibut long-lining, and is in charge of quality control when tendering in Bristol Bay. She plans to get a degree in Kinesiology and go to medical school.

Ingrid Petrie: Ingrid has been commercial fishing since she was a kid with her brother, Erik Kubiak, and dad, Dave Kubiak. During the summers the family would go commercial Salmon Seining and commercial Halibut fishing. Ingrid became a teacher and still goes Halibut fishing and tenders in Bristol Bay with her family.

Jeremy Petrie: Jeremy has been commercial fishing since he was 8 years old and has been on the family fishing vessel at a younger age. He grew up halibut fishing and then began commercial salmon seining later on. Now he and the family all go Halibut fishing, Bristol Bay Tendering, Salmon Seine, and Bairdi Tanner Crab fish.
